Basic Equipment for A.C.: After Collapse

Basic Equipment showcases a wide range of clothing, footwear, tools, and survival gear that any explorer would want to have before they go looking for loot.  That includes some of the most recognizable government and military uniforms that predated the collapse (e.g., first responders).

Creator Justin Oldham shared his thoughts.  “When I imagine post-apocalyptic settings, I think about the clothing and equipment that we associate with civilization without ever giving the matter much thought.  Police uniforms and firefighting garb are just a few of the examples that leaped out at me a long time ago.  Even if the trappings of government no longer exist, you’ve still got the potential for salvagers and scavengers to find tools they might not ever think about making.”

A.C.: After Collapse provides players with an imaginary roleplaying environment where they can make a wide variety of the tools their Characters might use in the pursuit of their interests and goals.  The difference between manmade (M) and fabricated equipment (F) has been described in ways that are intended to make it possible for referees to portray those things as they see fit.

Structure Point Values (SPV) or Armor Point Values (APV) for equipment items can be assigned to anything you might imagine simulating their durability.  Materiel Resistance defines just how well those items and objects in your game world can stand up to corrosion and/or contamination.  Temperature Limits further determine how the loot you found stands up to extreme heat or cold.

When asked why glasses and hearing aids were included, Justin said: “As much as I have been intrigued by post-apocalyptic worlds, I’ve always wondered how disabled people would get by in those situations.  In the early years after any collapse, many of them would somehow find a way to survive, even if it meant scavenging for meds, glasses, and hearing aids that were once so widely available.  As they do this, who can say how many of them go on to be heroes and heroines?”
