Bibix

The potential for life on other worlds has fascinated Science Fiction writers for more than a century.  Justin Oldham's novelization of Bibix is an exploration of alien psychology and what it means to fight for what you believe in--even if you don't know how.

Oldham's concept of "Lapropods" was developed to portray a species from another world that had no meaningful experience with predators or hardship as Humans have known it.  Escaping from their dying world, they arrived on Earth in such large numbers that no country could cope with them or contain their overwhelming numbers. "I wanted to think about it as an accidental invasion," Justin recalled when asked, "It's really the only way such a non-violent civilization could have any chance of defeating naturally aggressive beings like ourselves."

Bibix (himself) is a trophy hall curator for the dreaded NorCons, who arrived on Earth after the Lapropod "landings."  They are a militaristic species with a surprising secret that remains hidden until Human rebels help to uncover it.  The story takes place in a post-catastrophe Anchorage, Alaska.  Some scenes are mildly reminiscent of post-apocalyptic fiction that the author is known to enjoy.  Can this alien hero really save the day and get the "girl," or is he doomed to fail?   The answer is not what you think it might be.
